International Cultural Heritage Night This Thursday
Naugatuck High School and the Naugatuck Cultural Council have partnered to host the first (1st) annual Naugatuck International Cultural Heritage Night. The event will take place this Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Naugatuck High School, 543 Rubber Avenue, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
The event, which is open to the public, will begin with various exhibits and a food tasting prepared by our food service staff in the high school cafeteria. At8:00 PM, festivities will shift to the auditorium where numerous individuals and groups will perform various songs, dances and visual presentations highlighting cultural traditions throughout the world. World Language Department Head Anne Marie Chuckrey and Principal Francis Serratore have done a tremendous amount of work to plan and organize this event with assistance from Naugatuck Cultural Council Chair Ralph Roper and Events Chair Troy Bond.
The Naugatuck Family is comprised of people whose ancestors have come from places all over the Earth. With them, they have brought their distinct heritage and traditions that have enriched Naugatuck for centuries. While Thursday’s event will celebrate the rich cultural diversity that thrives here in the Borough, it also emphasizes the unique and exceptional American experience that binds us together.
In the event of a school cancellation due to weather, the event will be postponed to another date to be determined. If there is a delayed opening, the event will proceed as planned.
