The Joint Boards of Mayor and Burgesses adopted the 2011-2012 budget late last evening (5/26/2011), which can be viewed here.  The ONE HUNDRED FIVE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED FORTY EIGHT THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY FIVE and 00/100THS ($105,548,765.00) DOLLAR budget represents a one and 71/100ths (1.71%) percent increase over the 2010-2011 budget, which equates to an increase in the mill rate of 79/100ths (.79).  The budget is subject to referendum in accordance with the Borough’s Charter.  Minutes from the meeting, which include individual votes on various departments, will be uploaded soon.

You know what? I haven’t gotten a raise in YEARS, in fact I had my salary cut twice. Then I was cut to 4 days… I appreciate that you ‘only’ raised the budget 1.71% but you cannot get blood from a stone. There IS room to cut. Cut several positions out of every department and make the remaining workers pick up the extra work. NO OVERTIME. It’s what the REST of us have had to do. Tell the teachers they will not be getting a raise this year. That’s what the REST of us heard. When this budget comes up I will be voting against it. No matter how small you think the increase is. This years budget should be 2% less than last year… we need a break.
