Halloween Parade / Trick or Treating Postponed – 10/31/2011

The Naugatuck American Legion/Naugatuck Firefighters  Halloween Parade originally scheduled for today, October 31, 2011, has been postponed until Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 4:30 PM.

Potentially dangerous conditions still exist throughout the Borough in the aftermath of Storm Alfred.  Approximately two thirds (2/3rds) of Naugatuck customers remain without power as of 9:00 AM this morning (10/31/2011).  Streets lights and stop lights are not functioning in several areas throughout the Borough.  Downed trees and power lines still exist in numerous neighborhoods.  We strongly recommend that Naugatuck families cancel plans for traditional trick or treating activities this evening (10/31/2011), and postpone this annual tradition to Saturday, November 5, 2011.  We believe that it is not safe to have children trick or treating under current conditions.

Thank you in advance for respecting this decision which is made to protect our children and keep them all safe.

    Bob,
I know how much you feel that canceling Holloween should be the choice of individuals not Government. With that beeing said I hope all individuals listen to the warnings and stay safe. Saturday will be a great day for Trick or Treating. If I dont eat all the candy before then. Great job keeping all informed!!

I think saterday is a better choice it’s not a school night and you and stay out later. I do also have plans but will be back in time to take my kids out. Given the damage it should be up to the government for safety reasons. Even though I will be with my kids I my self don’t want to be driving or walking where NO ONE has shovled yet which the should have and some roads have tree limbs down and only one side open better safe then sorry.
